Aaron Gordon Schedules In-Home Visit With Arizona

Aug 31, 2012 11:15 PM

Aaron Gordon, an athletic 6-foot-7 wing who was California’s player of the year as a junior, has set an in-home visit with Arizona for Sept. 10.

Gordon likely won’t decide until spring, after the college basketball season.

“He kind of wants to get a better feel for most of the coaches and see how they do this season,” Gordon’s high school coach Ted Kennedy said. “As he gets to know them, he wants to see how they play on the court.”

Gordon is also considering Kansas, Kentucky, Washington, Oregon and Cal.

Jabari Parker took his second unofficial visit to Stanford on Monday, his father, former NBA player Sonny Parker said.

Parker, a senior at Chicago Simeon Academy, was in California with his mother Lola and his brother Christian, who is a student at the University of Washington.

"Jabari is out in California visiting his cousin," Sonny Parker said. "He did an unofficial visit to Stanford, visiting with coach Johnny Dawkins. He visited last year as well. He said he enjoyed the visit. He'll be home from California next week. Hopefully, we can narrow down which schools he'll visit this fall at that time."

Aug 22, 2012 12:25 AM

Jabari Bird and Aaron Gordon, two of the top recruits in the class of 2013, are set to visit California on Sept. 1 and take a trip to Colorado on Sept. 8.

"Right now those two visits we will take together," Bird told 247sports. "I don't know how to put it, but we aren't a package deal but we are. Don't be shocked to see us both play at the same college. It isn't a required thing but we like all the same schools."

Bird has narrowed his list of schools to four.

"I have Cal and Washington as my top two you could say and then there is Colorado and Oregon," Bird said. "Those are my final four schools I will be looking at."

Howland Plans For UCLA To Use Two Lead Guard Lineup

Aug 20, 2012 9:47 PM

Ben Howland has been playing Larry Drew and Kyle Anderson in the same lineups.

“It’s really fun to watch,” Howland said. “They’re two guys that can pass, that like to pass, and can really see the floor. Offensively, those two guys together are going to do well when they’re in.”

Drew transferred from North Carolina midway through his junior year.

“Larry’s got something to prove,” Howland said. “He’s got a lot of doubters out there after the way things went.”

Maryland Zeroing In On Recruitment Of Roddy Peters

Aug 17, 2012 10:49 AM

Roddy Peters has seemingly become Maryland’s top priority for the 2013 class.

The 6-foot-4 point guard from District Heights (Md.) took an official visit to College Park earlier this week.

“It went really good. I liked it,” said Peters, whose rapid summer ascent landed him as a consensus top-50 recruit. "They took me around to see everything, I got to see the dorms, talked to a couple of the players (Nick Faust and Pe’Shon Howard), met the trainers … They just said that they really want me at Maryland. That’s what (my mom) liked. Coach (Mark) Turgeon told me he really wanted me. She likes them.

“He told me how I can come in and be a point guard, how he thinks I fit the style,” he continued. “Of course, they were all saying that I should commit, but I still want to weigh my options.”

Peters is also considering Georgetown, Xavier, UCLA, Memphis and Rutgers.

“At first everyone thought I would commit [when Maryland offered], but I have all types of schools now. It’s really all about where I’m most comfortable,” he said. “I’ve got some thinking to do. I think I’ll commit during basketball season.”
